Roof Eave Extension

Here are some pictures of my latest project, an extension to the eave on the front of my house. In the before pictures, you can see where the chimney was capped off. It made the house look odd as there are already lots of roof lines.

Some details:

-sistered 8ft 2x6 to existing truss, glued and screwed/nailed
-installed huricane ties to sistered 2x6 truss extensions
-installed 2x6 structural fascia
-installed 2x6 ledger to double 2x10 header above window with 9 4" lag bolts
-installed horizontal braces from truss extension to ledger
-cut back existing 1/2" sheathing to overlap extension joint with new 1/2" ply, glued and nailed with hot dipped galv 8d nails
-installed plywood clips midspan (24" OC) on new sheathing
-installed new soffit and fascia, reused old soffit on side to match existing under barge

I still have a couple things (i.e. gable end drip edge) to wrap up, then I'm having the roof done.

Thanks, I think so too. The front of the house was just too busy looking with the chimney capped off the way it was. Next project is to fix up the roof that jets out over the front entrance. It needs proper footings and the junk soffit job redone.
