New oak stair treads

I installed some new oak stair treads. This was one of the last things on the basement reno. I used a dark walnut stain and put 6 coats of varnish with sanding in between. Used PL premium 3x to adhere the treads to the stairs.

Need to decide on style of rail then it will be complete

Great looking job, did you glue and nail the risers to the back of each tread, if not after a while they may squeak.

I didn't use any mechanical fasteners. I didn't want to mess with the finish on the treads. I'm hoping the liberal amount of PL will stop the squeaks. So far no squeaks.

Hi. Your stairs sure looks lovely. But is it just me or the risers are really uneven/ not leveled properly? I don't know maybe it's just the picture I hope. As for the handrail, You can go with wrought iron balusters & wood handrail, I love that combination. Or you can also go for all-wood dark-stained handrail & white painted balusters.

Very nice. I'll be interested in the type of railing you decide on.

Must be the photo angle or the paint on the top of the risers causing things to look uneven.

Nice job. I really like the stain. I too struggle with finding creative ways to attach things without ruining the finish. There are definitely a lot of creative tricks to learn. Good look and hope it doesn't squeak or come undone (insert Phil Dunphy here).

The stairs look great, good job. I think Jigger's idea of wrought iron balusters & wood handrail would look amazing.
