Drill press table

I have this old school rockwell drill press that works pretty well other than having a steel plate for the table. I decided to make one that would be pretty functional for using hold downs etc, but for spending under 30$ & using left over stuff I'm pretty stoked.

Center will have a replaceable plug, I'm masking it off so I can bondo it to make an exact replica which I can then use to make the jig that will sit on the wall for whenever I need replacements.

Added some laminate from leftover deathstar project, a little too dark and already has built in scratches, but it's better than nothing

Additional screw on leafs for bigger parts. I didn't want to always be reaching over some huge table but also didn't want to flail when drilling a cabinet door or something so I used some machine screws and t-nuts to add on extension pieces

Got the fence done, I used some extruded aluminum t track and built some stop blocks too

Here I'm working on bulding a way to raise and lower it since someone welded the stuff together previously and they made it not square or straight, that doesn't make for nice holes.

A little test action using wire

The lift mechanism works rather well, I used replacement rollers for screen doors for the bearings, and made the tolerance between the two boxes real tight so they stay square to each other.

Thanks guys! I wish I had a mill, just a good ol' router table was used.
