My 1000 square foot addition also includes remodeling my kitchen. My kitchen was 10x10, now it is 16x22. The addition has added a bedroom with a bathroom completely open to it with only a pony wall separating the two. A 7x11 walk-in closet also resides in the new bedroom. The other half of the addition is a living room with two sets of steps leading to it from the new kitchen. It is completely open to the kitchen and only separated by a pony wall.
All of the addition has 9'9" ceilings. We added a fire sprinkler system (forced to do so by local code) and forced air (heat and AC). In a year or two when we have amassed more money we will be adding a 1000 square foot deck out back. I will also be replacing the windows and stucco/siding on the front half of the house. All of that however I will be doing myself.
For the remodel I used Punch! Home Design over the course of about a year to constantly refine placement of things... and to learn the program. I used it to do our plot plan and then Lars Construction took on the job of getting me up to drywall. We went though 10+ contractors giving us a wide range of bids. Lars turned out to be a great choice as issues have been resolved quickly.
On my website I have links to other projects I have done like rewiring my entire house, building a 50' retaining wall, re-roofing my house and lots of other small stuff.
I welcome your thoughts on my remodel or other projects I have done:

Here is just one of the thousands of images I have on my website:
...the white bead board is going to be painted and the posts are going to be stained. The hole in the island if for the beverage cooler, the doors still need to be installed over the microwave, the floor needs to be gouted and a few other small things... as far as the kitchen goes. Many late nights, so work serves as a place to relax!
