Woodpecker noise coming from icemaker

I Have a Maytag side by side that is 3 1/2 years old. I had to replace the compressor recently. I keep hearing tapping noises coming from the ice maker. I checked to make sure the tubing didn't have a kink in it and replace rusty values under my sink, but the noise keeps happening. One repairman siad it could be air in the tube, but didn't want to work on it becasue the tubing was good. Any suggustions on how I could get rid of this noise. The ice maker makes ice okay.

See if you can confirm the air in the line... force it to cycle...

if yes..with towel ready... help the water switch stay open... check all your connections... ( depends on make and model if you can do this),,

and /or pull the unit out..towel ready disconnect supply hose from cut off valve. turn on to confirm air not in supply line.

ALSO:

When you pull the refrig out be sure a thirsty woodpecker is not there..

also listen very hard to tapping... is it Morse code...maybe with next weeks winning lottery number? ...if so don't forget me... I'm ready for a trip to the islands ... after hurricane season.

hm... shows what i know, my first guess would have been the plastic gears stripped on the ice mover shaft, but if it still pushes ice through when done, probly not.

hmmm.... could be (good call Dmouse): watch while it cycles

b4 u put the 3 + year refrig on the curb... clean it out..shut it off .. doors open... let it defrost a few days..kick it..plug it back in..kick it again...

curse or pray according to your mood... I prefer praying, but most of the time I get the unanswered prayer responce and it works out better... go figure....

Ok..cute to the side...very hard for me..., but

open freezer door... empty some ice out of the tray and be sure ice maker lever is down so it will "make more ice". maker should dump ice it has made and water should refill the ice tray. this may take a little time.. the units can have a mind of their own.

| ( Put 3 of your 5 senses to work.. no need to taste or smell).. ( if we add common and sixth sense the numbers of senses gets screwed up)...sorry .. not being cute is hard for me...|

see, listen, feel.. ( where is the wood pecker?) is there a lever that is in line with the water that you can access?... if yes keep it on (water should flow and any air in the line will go with it.

IF THIS doesn't work... (25%) chance.. pull the refrig out and test the supply line as advised in my fist post... don't forget the towel.... ( skip over the woodpecker part & the lottery number thing on the first post... it won't be as cute the second time you read it.)

good luck ..let us know?
