Window A/C AC14040C1D new power cord?

I need to replace the power cord on my Amana A/C unit (AC14010C1D). Plug is fried. I've been told that the power cord is "discontinued". What are my options?

New a/c.
Wire in a power cord from an refrigerator-a/c extension cord. ( 110 volt version )

Appliance Extension Cord, 9 foot - Heavy-duty

Remove the female end and install in place of the old cord plug.

jeff.
