Whirlpool wet clothes

On several occasions small and large loads of clothes have been very wet after wash cycle. This doesn't happen all the time but occurs enough to know that I may have a mechanical problem. Sometimes there's a burning odor as well. Burning motor or belt or electrical.Any insight to my problem would be greatly appreciated

since you didn't tell us if you have a front load machine or regular top loader I'm going to assume it is a top loader . Most likely your clutch is slipping and the tub is not spinning very fast. You will need a new clutch.
