Whirlpool ice maker stops midway
Whirlpool modular ice maker kit.
About 4 years old. It fills water fine, ejects the ice then it stops. If I push the arm down, it will work again and follow the cycle noted above and stop. Any ideas? Thanks! Elyse |
You stated that " If I push the arm down, it will work again and follow the cycle noted above and stop." Why is the arm up at the end of the cycle? If I remember correctly the arm will move up about halfway up as the ice cubes are dumped and then should return to the down position as the next cycle begins. When the arm is at the uppermost top position, indicating a full ice container, this should tell the icemaker not to make ice. I'm no expert on appliance repair but have two refrigerators with the Whirlpool style icemakers that work this way. It sounds as if something in the cycle timer has gotten a little off. I don't have the solution to this though, sorry. Good Luck, David

The arm stops about halfway up, not in the "off" position. But then it never cycles again.
The ice maker is empty when this happens. |
