whirlpool Ice maker

My refrig is 3 yeras old and the ice maker stopped making ice, something isn't right as it may make 1 tray in 24 hours. the temp is 15 degrees in space. I had a service man come out and he said that it was the compressor, I guess he could be correct but my gut feeling it isn't that.
The other day before we called the service company the ice cream was melting, so now it appears to get cold and then gets warm. I was thinking could it get into a defrost mode and gets stuck. ANY Help.....spent 1500.00 on that whirlpool hate to trash it .

If the valves are leaking in the compressor he will never get the temp low enough to make sufficient ice, or freeze the ice cream hard.

Got up this morning now temp at 20 degrees been closed all night, and it seems to be raising, in the freezer section the back wall has a panel where the cold air comes from should this be all ice on the coils.

You will need to locate the defrost timer (somewhere on the bottom of fridge) and force it into defrost.

doubt it has a defrost timer, most likely has an adaptive defrost board. Call in a different technician

Definitely call a repair man. That is building up because your unit is noy kicking into defrost. The frost builds up and restricts air flow which causes the temperature to raise. The defrost system is definitely bad but out sounds like you need a repair man because your unit is not very diy friendly...
