whirlpool fridge not cooling

ok, about 2 year old fridge still looks like new :) .the top freezer is still keeping food frozen but with a slight frost over the ice and wrapped food .the bottom is only chilled at best:( .under the fridge is all clean .i don't think i'm losing any refrigerant but hey what do i know:huh:. what i do know is the compressor does not cycle on enough. i would like to fix this fridge ,not me but a repair man does this sound like something that can be fixed for a reasonable amount ?

its just not kicking on as frequent as it use to the fridge sits quiet for long periods of time

The repair man is going to have determine if there is a good refrigerant charge,if all of the switches are working right and the correct voltage and amp draw. If the compressor is trying to start but is not (it may hum or make a rattling noise if it's trying) then there is a hard start kit for small compressors that can be added to the compressor circuit which ensures it starts when it tries.

if it is not kicking on like it is supposed to, I would suspect a bad cold control. Or if you have electronic controls you may have a bad sensor or circuit board.
