What is this device?

Hello,

I'm trying to identify a device in a property I'm interested interested in. It's mounted on the wall in the closet with what looks like string running to/from it.

The property is a 2nd floor condo in a duplex if that is of any assistance. I'm just not sure what it is.

Really appreciate any help identifying - see image below

A weather monitor control box?

Follow the conduit where the wiring is, to see if it has an item at the other end.

Take the cover off to see if it has a manufacturer name and number, and reference it.

I've tried putting all the info listed on the unit in a google search but found nothing... the house was built in the 70s, perhaps it's older and redundant now but the conduit goes into the floor, which is another unit below.. so I can't follow it any further.

The yellow triangle reminded me of a laser warning. I suspect the string is there as a pull line for a fibre cable that was not installed.

That is a fiber optic terminal. Second photo shows the two LC connectors to accept fiber patch cords, hence laser light would emit from those ports. As previously stated, the string is for pulling the fiber in. What a fiber connection is there for?...good question.
