Water Heat keeps having to be reset

It started a couple months ago where it will shut off and then I would pay someone to come fix it. I watched how they did it so now I reset it on an average of once a week now. Any ideas how to fix this problem. tank only 7 years old and I believe a 40 gallon tank

What are you resetting? What do you mean by shutting off? electric or gas? Need more info
