washing machine drain pipe over flowing

Hello all,

I know this has been posted before but i have to ask this. First of all the washer I own is over ten years old. last winter i had the pipes cleaned by a plumbing company. about six months after winter my washing machine starts to over flow from the drain tube. to stop the washer from overflowing I have to sit by the washer and when it starts to over flow I have to open the lid and allow it to drain then close the lid only to repeat the process again till the spin cycle starts then it will drain on its own. I called roto rooter to come check things out but with out any clothes in the washer the drain pipes will not over flow. I checked out the washer (drain basket) and found no clogs of any kind. No other drain backs up in the house. My question is should I have the pipes done again because of the tree roots that broke through the pipes or should I up date my washer?

Most likly it's pluging up in the trap for the washing machine.
Just run a snake down the drain.

hire a competent plumber who knows how to find a clog. Its very obvious you have a partial clog from the stand pipe to where it hooks into the main drain pipe. Or do as Joe said first and run a drain auger down the stand pipe first
