Top Loading Washer serious banging brake??
I have a lower priced Kenmore top loading washer 4 years old. It developed a serious banging at the end of the spin cycle. The repairman was certain the brake was the problem. He replaced parts he felt would cure it. The problem remains. He and I still think it is the brake (no other issues with the machine...no bearing noise or oil leak).
However, the repairman has not experienced anything his action so far has not corrected, and is not very keen to start in any other repair as it may cost nearly as much as a new similar machine.
Three options....use it like it is until it flys apart (as it sounds it might) (nothing to lose but my hearing, correct?)
...dismantle it myself and try to remove noisy parts and just let it spin down without any brake (nothing to lose but my time and knuckles, correct?)
....get a new machine.
Advice on what to do?? Thanks, anyone.

Thanks for asking.

is it one loud bang or more than that. if it is the brake it would only be one. The noise comes from the tub banging into the machine cabinet when the brake is applied. If he replaced the brake shoes and properly cleaned the liner then I really don't see how it would still be doing it. If you are getting more than one large bang then there is something else wrong
