Too much shakin' goin' on -

My wife and I bought a house which is only 3 years old. It has the washer and dryer in the second floor, which is convenient. But what we've noticed is that when the washer is pretty loaded up, the spin cycle shakes the whole top floor pretty strongly (really strongly). I can't imagine that this will be good for the structure of the home, long term, and this is a home we hope to stay in for quite a while.

Does anybody here know of any kind of material or product I could put under the washing machine to dampen out the vibrations? Something I could readily buy, and either sized correctly or readily cut to the appropriate size? The vibrations are on the order of 2 or 3 cycles per second.

Thanks for any suggestions -

you can pick up an antifatigue mat at lowes or depot, in the same isle as the mops

or go to tractor supply and pick up a stall mat.

these will work well, are cheap and you could put it in tonight

try doing like loads of clothing. ex if you mix towels with t-shirts it will go out of balance and creating a lot of noise especially in a new construction home on the 2nd floor.

this complaint is legend in newer homes. you're right, the house and the washer are suffering. assuming it's a 3 year old washer-top load, installed correctly, and it does this with a full load of towells, it's probably not the washer,it's your floor. you can try the Shake Away Pads but long term i would look into reenforcing the floor.
