toaster appliance

My bread toaster is over 50 yrs old. It is a Sunbean; one that lowers automatically when bread is inserted. Now it will not lower the bread. I suspect it is a simple fix but cannot correct it. Anyone familiar with this toaster who can give some advice would be appreciated. It should have another 50 yrs in it. Thanx.
Andy

toaster appliance

I'd suspect something minor needs to be adjusted or lubricated or tensioning a spring.

Find a REALLY old small appliance repair guy...
or maybe one of these folks will know more: http://www.toastercollectors.org/Home.html
