Stove Gas Line
Planning on switching from electric to gas. The line was installed when the house was built and I didn't think much about it when I tiled around the pipe behind the stove.....but now when i pulled out the stove and looked again there is no valve on the line sticking up out of the floor, it is just capped.
Unfortunatly my basement is completly finished (drywalled ceiling) so I can't get to a valve if there is one near where it goes up to the first floor.
they surely would not just cap an open line and not have it valved off somewhere other than the main right???
We just did that a couple weeks ago. They would not install it unless there was a shut off behind the range with a 3 to 6" stub that was capped. Of course when they installed it - they took out the stub so not sure what that part was all about. Our set up was a shut off at the furnace where the lines branch and the shut off was in place behind the range.
