rust spots

well, rust and dirt are two different things. if rust, sounds like at 11 years it's a Maytag, if you can see what's rusting try to patch also run a rust remover product[supermarket]... if dirt[soap scum etc] any odor after washer sits for day or so?? especially in washers with plastic outer tubs where people use cold water to wash in, run Calgon water softner, cup of bleach, hot water-set on high, through a cycle. of course no clothes. also next time you wash cottons use the Calgon instead of detergent[one time] to strip det' out of clothes. all this is assuming of course, that washer is agitating properly.
