Retrofitting wall vent on an OTR microwave/hood comb
We have a OTR microwave/hood combination that is 20 years old and going to be replaced. I have NEVER been able to use the hood fan because of an installation screwup by our builder. When they installed the wall vent, there was no damper. We have had to fill the vent/pipe with insulation otherwise, my kitchen is a wind tunnel from the consistent draft thru the vent. The outside wall vent is not your standard kitchen vent. It is a metal hood that was attached to the framing and stuccoed around. Removing it and replacing with a new one would require repairing the stucco which, we don't want to have to do. Is there any type of retrofitting that can be done? Is it possible to find/install just a damper?
