replaced main terminal block

i replaced the main terminal block because sparks came out the back of the dryer and burned up the terminal block. now the dryer seems to have no power coming to it. what did i hook up wrong? would that have fixed the problem? the dryer was still running while it was sparking. i unplugged it to stop it. the model number is fer311fs0

3 wire or 4 wire block?
Check the voltage at the block?
Check the wall rec?
Change the cord too?
What caused the sparking???
