Range hood that mounts to wall

Hello all,

I have a basement suite reno underway, and I am looking for a range hood (non-vented, for charcoal filter) that will allow me to attach it directly to the wall, rather than needing cabinets on top for support. The cabinets are already in place and the space above the stove is open, we will not be adding anything to it. I can't seem to find this product without going directly to very high end stainless steel one costing $800+. Does anyone know if there are regular range hoods that will mount in this fashion?

I don't think you'll find one.
Most are too front heavy to just be supported by the back.
How about a shelf secured to the cabinets on either side. You could make it a wine rack or the wife can put some cook books on it.

Not a problem. The cheapo plain vanilla sheetmetal exhaust hoods are light enough to be wall mounted. Do use good hardware and hit at least one stud.

I've done this and used the top for the toaster oven.

Range hood that mounts to wall

Years age in a lake cabin I built I had the same issue, no cabinet over the kitchen range. I installed a wide wooden shelf using shelf brackets about 32" apart (hood is 30" wide). I secured the hood to the bottom of the shelf.
