Default Questions about icemaker and water line options

Some friends of mine are moving into a new place and taking their refrigerator with them, which is currently hooked up to a water line and their icemaker works fine.

The problem is, the new place does not have a water line, the landlord of the new place doesnt want to run one, and they arent allowed to do their own.

Is there anything they can do?

I seem to recall that you could maybe set a small water tank on top of the refrigerator and run the water line from there to the back of the frig but unless it had pressure somehow I guess that wouldnt work.

Does anything like that actually exist or are they just SOL?

SOL. yes you would need pressurized water supply. tell them to turn I/M off, it won't know there's no water hookup and will cycle every 30 minutes or so.

Thanks, I thought I was mistaken the more I searched around.

I will tell them to keep it turned off when they move in. I will also double check to make sure they cant install a line themselves. It looks really easy to do.
