So I'm back on this wonderful forum after some other helped me fixed my AC about a month back. This time, my parent's oven is burning and it smells like plastic/gun powder. There's no burning from inside the oven just on the backside. There's some obvious areas that have been burning up as you can see in the photos. Still, the oven and stove work despite the burning (obviously I've kept them off after realizing the problem). The burning smell only occurs when the oven is heated up, but not the stove top.
Anyone have ideas on what may be wrong? A note worth mentioning: my father must have poured a bunch of roach powder behind the range, and being the clumsy one with electronics he is, got some of the powder in the range (via the back vents). The powder is likely boric acid or diatomaceous earth. From what I could see the powder only settled on the Rear Latch, which does look pretty burned. Not sure it caused it, but worth noting. I don't know a lot about ovens, but I wouldn't think a latch motor would cause the other wires to fry, right?
The model is WFE364LVS0. It's a Whirlpool from 2009.
Thanks in advance,
Eric
