Oven


My wife wants to add a wall mounted oven in our kitchen. The wall she wants to do it on is an inside wall, might even be a "load bearing wall", this wall separates our living room and kitchen.
What obstacles would we have to overcome be doing this,,,ie, ventilation, electrical, wall thickness, etc

Oven


Since ovens are vented out the front it's just a matter of having to come up with a spot to run the new wire back to the panel.
Wall thickness is not even an issue.
Got a picture where you plan to install it.

Why a wall oven, I have not seen to many done that way since the 70's.

She wants to have her regular oven and a wall oven, I think she plans on cooking for an army, but we only have two kids, she wants a "double oven". , but says they are too expensive. And having a wall oven and a regular oven is cheaper...

By the time you do all the reworking and paying for all the wire and breakers plus all your time.
Slide old oven out install new double oven, one hour if your slow. Plus you could then have a convection oven, micro ware combo.

That is my thought exactly, but she doesn't want to spend over $1000 for the double oven, especially when our old oven is running great.
Damn HGTV and the " food network" !!!!

Get the channel locked out. 99% of what the show on there is a joke.
I started getting calls about using toilet paper and Elmas glue to cover bathroom walls to make it look like it was textured.
Then it was using paper bags glued to the floor and cover with poly to make it look like leather.
Installing louan over a white oak hardwood floor and just painting it.
Building shelves in between the wall studs in an outside wall.
All seen on one of the silly DIY shows.
Since those shows have came on everyone thinks you can build a 12 X 24 deck in an hour, it takes 5 people to paint one room, a sledge hammer is what you need to remove cabinets.

Barry. Running the electrical will be the only issue. As was mentioned earlier the ovens vent back to the room. Keeping the cook happy is the biggest issue I see here.

How thick is this wall You want to mount this oven in? Unless the oven is 3 1/2 inches deep,wont it hang out in Your living room

Some times I dont explain things so good What I was trying to get to was if the oven was to be mounted IN the wall or in a cabinet. If its the wall,what is behind kitchen wall (living room).If it is mounted in a cabinet,then the only concern would be electrical hookup.OP mentioned load bearing wall so that is what I was wondering about
