only 1/4 inch of frame & wall on each side of wall oven

I have an older home and need to replace the wall oven. Apparently ovens are larger than they used to be because they are too large for my opening. I found an oven that will barely fit leaving 1/4 inch of frame on the sides of the oven. The oven would be butted up next to sheetrock on one side , the other side is wood paneling .
Is it safe for the oven to be this close to the sheet rock? I know the wood paneling should be replaced with another material. Any suggestions about that?

Read the specs on the particular oven you have in mind. I had a similar problem, I had an old 24 inch oven, hard to find them anymore, so we expanded the space and put in a 30 inch oven. As I recall, my oven required at least an inch of clearance all around, of course yours may be different.
