Default oil fired furnace issues

I woke up this morning to a 62 degree home. NOT COMFY!

I went down to my furnace and pushed the reset button. It acted like it was going to fire up and then it quit. I kept going down every 1/2 hour or so to try this again. I did this about 5 or 6 times.

A few moments ago it actually fired up. Then it produced white smoke from the little door you can open to make sure it fires up and the exhaust pipe where it goes to the chimney. Then it shut off.

PLEASE tell me my furnace is not toast. I can not afford to replace it right now.

You really need a pro,for this one.Every time you hit reset button, you're dumping oil into combustion chamber. This can get pretty nasty, and dangerous. My $.02 worth

not necessarily toast. Good be several issues. Clogged jet, faulty pump, electrode gap set wrong, controller starting to go, reset failing or flame detector is dirty. all can be fixed. If it fails while you are servicing it you may find the problem. But intermittent failures will be troublesome to get resolved.
