Noisy refridge

We have a 5 year old Kenmore Elite, 3 door fridge.
2 side by side doors with a freezer drawer below.
There is a very loud noise coming from underneath.
It shuts off when the fridge comes up to temp and starts up again as it needs cool down.
Any ideas?
Is this a DIYer or should I just call the Appliance guy.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

First look under it and behind it to see if there's anyhting loose. If you can see under it where the compressor is check to see if the rubber bushing is shot that it's mounted on.
Check to see if it's level.
Narrow down where the sound is coming from, cooling fan, compressor.

Thanks for the reply, Joe.
Why would leveling create a vibration noise?
I'll go check for level......

The "vibration" sounds like a loud hum vs a clatter or metal rattle.

thanks,
Tom

You did check inside to make sure there's nothing inside making the noise, right.
A hum could be a bad solinoid to the ice maker. the drain pan touching something, a bad cap. in the compresser.
Is it keeping everything cold?

Yep everything is nice and cold.
We had a service guy here last year replacing the ice maker.
The sound is definitively coming from underneath and outside.

if its coming from underneath, outside that would mean either the condenser fan motor or the compressor. Pull it out, take the back panel off and if its as noisey as you say it should be fairly easy to find the problem. There are only 3 moving parts on your refrg. the compressor the condenser fan motor and the evaporator fan motor. Should be an easy fix

I Love this place!!!!

I pulled out the fridge and removed the back panel.
There was dust and dirt back there but nothing jumping right out at me.
I vacuumed and cleaned and poked this and wiggled that just to make sure nothing was loose.
Pushed the fridge back in place and it's as quiet as the day we bought it. Hooray!!!

Thanks to all of you for your advice.
