Newer GE top loader washer buzzes when should shut off

I have a new near new top loading GE clothes washer that is used little for a 1 person house. When it should be done and shut itself off it just sits there and buzzes. NOT a done warning buzz,,,but like something is stuck. It will buzz for days or weeks till shut off manually. It washes fine,it spins water out when done,,,what can possibly buzz like that?? Obviously something needs fixed but where to start???

This is what I would do. Whether you feel comfortable doing it is another matter.

1. Turn off all power to the unit (unplug cord) and remove enclosure. The enclosures on most washing machines are fairly easy to remove. It will help if you have an "owners manual" with a parts diagram.

2. Make sure everything is clear from any moving parts and electrical components.

3. Make double sure everything is clear from any moving parts and electrical components.

4. Reapply power to the machine and look (don't touch!) and listen for the part that is buzzing.

5. When you find the part that is making the offending noise, disconnect the power again before working on the unit.

BTW, Google is your friend when it comes to finding instructions on appliance repair. Enter the model number and a couple words describing the problem concisely.

thanks will try that when I get a minute. update a bit--it is filling, wasings, and spinning firt fill as should. When its time for rinse to fill again is when buzz occurs. that doesnt make sense to me if it doesnt fill why does it fill on wash cycle??
