NEW GUY! loud refrigerator operating noise

Hi everyone,
this is my first post on this forum! My problem is the family refrigerator runs quite loud and we need to know if it's going to "give up the ghost" and need to be replaced soon or whether it's something worth fixing. I'm 22, and we've had this refrigerator for as long as I can remember. It's a little beat up, but it does its job. When the refrigerator motor turns on there's a constant loud running noise. The weird part is if pressure/weight is added to the refrigerator door or especially the freezer door, this loud noise all but silences itself. Just the other day my dad gave the freezer door a good shove and the noise was quieted all together. Does anyone know for sure what would cause this? I had thought maybe the magnetic seals on the doors were bad? Let me know!
Thanks!
~Dan

If you're able to stop it by banging etc, it's probably a vibration noise. could be tubing, floor, fan mtr gromments, resonance from comp-- lot of things. have to hunt it down.

I would guess its just the grate in front of the unit under the fridge door. Take it off, clean it and pop it firmly back into place. Ours used to do the same thing. It tends to get kicked over time and it losens up and vibrates.
