Need some help

Hey all. I am new here and am having some trouble. I have a hotpoint model hda460-03 ad. Yes I know it is super old. I am having trouble getting the proper pressure to clean dishes. It won't even dissolve the detergent packet. I am at a loss. Please help.

How do I go about checking level? I am super new to this. I know I can't run it until the door is closed and latched. Sorry for sounding stupid.

Give the wash arms a good clean.

Pull them out and give them a good clean. there is usually a build up in the arms. Also typically see a build up in the sump area. Could also be the motor pump impeller worn out.

I will look into that. Hopefully the motor isn't wearing out, I imagine as old as this one is it would cost as much to fix as replace the whole thing.

check water level first. Let dishwasher fill, when it starts to wash open door water should be almost touching the heating element
