Need help with my dryer

My dryer door keeps on opening when it is in use. It opens up after a couple seconds. Does anyone know why? It is Kenmore Elite.

There should be a latch that catches it. It is a small stud looking thing that goes into a hole in hole that has springs that put pressure on the stud when you close it. If everything is there then the springs may be week that hold it. if you need a picture I can take one of mine and post it.

If you could, that would be great. I was out of town all week, I get back to home tonight. From what my wife was telling me, it sounds like a broken latch. But I don't know yet

Elite isn't a model #, only a marketing thing for price point. if it's a match to a Kenmore [Whirl'] front loader, it has two catch's. if they're both ok-there's a flash on this-can be different reasons..rather than throw parts at it-call a local servicer who's up to date on your product.

The plastic thing that the metal thing goes into is a little cracked on one side. There is only one catch. It is on the front upper center, once you open the door.

go down to your local appliance store and tell them you need a part #279570 latch kit. Pop the old latch out and the new one in. 1 minute job.
