Min clearance between Gas stove and wooden cabintry above

I've got a gas stove, am removing the microhood and replacing with regular hood vent fan that will be enclosed in matching wooden cabinetry. What is the minimum distance required between the stove top and the bottom of the wood surround for the hood vent?

Code here is 30"; 24" if the combustible material is protected by insulating millboard and sheet metal or; the rating plate specifies otherwise.
