microwave door

The plastic trim on the door to my son's microwave is broken at the bottom. The seal SEEMS fine. How do I check to see if it is safe to use?

You can pick up a microwave leak detecror for less than 30 bucks.

I think Radio Shack used to carry them or you can buy one on line.
