Maytag LA511 squeal

blumagnet Newbie   Join Date: Dec 2010 Posts: 2	Maytag LA511 squeal Maytag LA511 top loading washing machine sqeals during spin cycle and sounds unbalanced. Is this due to bellts & bearings or something else? Works OK otherwise and only occurs during high speed spin.

hardwareman #1 HAWKEYE FAN     Join Date: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,433	Maytag LA511 squeal probably belt slipping. this washer has 2 belts 1 for the pump and 1 for the drive. replace both at the same time. very easy to change, tip it back about 6 inches the belts are on the bottom of the washer, no tools requireed.

Jacques Member   Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: phila. Posts: 504	Maytag LA511 squeal this was a great washer. built for 30 yr' service..if the belts don't fix it call a local guy and have it repaired [brg's are going]. it's a pricey repair but there's nothing on the market today that's comparable.
