Light clicking noise in fan: fix?

Hey guys, a fan in my house has a light clicking noise that goes away on faster settings. Any idea how to get rid of this? Should I just get some wd40 up in it somehow?

Thanks!

Light clicking noise in fan: fix?

I'm guessing that your fan shakes at least a little when it runs... if it does, the noise is caused by the plastic at the top of the downrod being worn away. The temporary solution is to replace the downrod but unless you fix your fan's balance problem, the new downrod will eventually wear away and begin to make the same noises.

Really can not tell you without being there. Could just be as simple as being out of balance. How long has it been in place, and who is the manufacturer?
