kenmore washing machine question

I have a Kenmore clothes washer, model 110.26912691. Looks like it's made by Whirlpool. The lid switch is broken. The switch has 3 wires, one goes to ground. Can I bypass it by jumpering the two other wires? IOW, does the switch connect the 2 wires, or connect one or the other to ground?

Thanx!

jumper across the other 2 wires temporarily. Make sure you get a replacement switch .
