This is my 1st time to the board, and i hope someone can help me...or at least point me in the right direction.
I have an apartment-portable Kenmore dishwasher. The ones that are 2/3rds the size of a normal one. Its works well, but when it has to drain, it barely pumps any liquid out, and sounds like its fighting to work at all.
My question is could it be a blockage? needs a new pump? Is this a common problem? If so, should i do it myself (i am a pretty handy guy, but dont want to wreck anything by diving in head-first without some guidance).
Just as a follow-up, as no one seemed to know what the problem could be, I think I fixed it last night. Once again, I drained the unit as best I could, put the unit on its side and un-clamped the drainage pipe. I used a small air compressor to send a gentle blast of air through the rubber pipe, some liquid came out, but it sounded like something else "let go" or "loostened up" and came free. I did a wash cycle afterwards and it drained perfectly!
Mind you i also took the entire pump assembly apart this weekend, and found no obstructions, clogs or problems. Afterwards i put the washer through a cycle and it drained poorly. Im hoping this is all set now.
