Installing Vent Hood, What to Expect?

I want install my range hood and vent it on the backside and out to the side of the house.

I have a house from the mid 70's with brick siding.

What's the proper way of doing this? How to seal everything up after the hole is cut to keep water and the weather out?

My plan right now is the put the new vent hood in place and mark the 4 corners of the vent duct.
Drill holes from the inside to outside.
Go outside and drill as many holes as I can between the four points and then chisel out the brick once I have made a perforated border with a 1/2 drill bit.

Does that sound about right?
Don't know how to seal everything back up yet but I am open to ideas.

Be prepared to deal with a stud right in the middle of the opening in the wall.

Anyone has anymore tips about how to cut a opening in my brick siding and how to seal it back up when the duct is installed?

So I removed the existing range hood and found vapour barrier and batt insulation behind the drywall. What should I do to seal the vapour barrier when I am done? Seems impossible.

I removed the old hood fan. i found a duct 6 x 2 in the wall. it goes outside. is there something to put in this to direct the exhaust in the right direction? the 6 x 2 goes up to the ceiling. the sheet rock has seen better days. the power wire is justing hanging. do i need to put this in a junction box?

Not sure about the duct.

If there is enough slack to bring the wiring into the vent hood and make your wiring connections in there then you don't need a junction box.

If not you'll have to junction and leave it accessible or back it out to the last junction box and pull new wire.
