Install new 36" stanless steel gas range into 40" space

I had an old electric range installed in a 40" space. To replace with a gas range, I found out that there are not many choices, but for the 36", a lot. Any one know how to fill up the 4" gap if I get a 36" range? The range is stainless steel and counter top is granite.

you could add fillers on the cabinets and if you can still buy the granite have pieces made to fill in the counter. they might even have some scraps in the color you need.

A whole lot less work and money to keep looking find another 40".
Trying to "fix" that counter top and not have it show is going to be the big issue.

Thank you. I will see if they have something close to my current counter top. It has been 8 years since I installed it. Option to buy 40" is first option but the type and brand I like does not come many.

I'm in the same situation but I bought a 30" range to replace my 40" range. The problem is they don't make them with pot storage any more. Closest I've seen was baking pan storage. I still don't know what I'll do, but the kitchen cabinets are old so maybe I'll get new ones with a modern sized space for an oven eventually. Meanwhile I keep a garbage can in the space, and I've thought about putting a heat resistant shelf above it. I was also thinking of widening the little wall that's next to 9" gap.
