Ice maker not working

I have a kenmore elite fridge and the ice maker doesn't work. I recently replaced the filter and now the water works byt there is ni water getting to the I've maker. I can hear it working, that found out makes when it's suppose to be dunking the ice out but no ice. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it

There will be fellows posting that know more than me, but it sounds like the solenoid is no good. Probably you have a set of solenoids, one for water to the water dispenser, one for water to the icemaker. Likely replaced as a set of solenoids. Google "appliance parts" or "refridgerator parts" and you will plenty of places for replacements. Likely you can find them in-town also.

Make sure the arm is down.....

Are you sure you don't have an on/off switch? Ours does....it's on the side of the unit.

Everything is in the on position and the lever is down. I can here the market working and cycling there is just no ice, which I assume has to do with the water line or solenoid

Yep, no water, no ice. Have you checked to see if the solenoid is getting 120 volts? On the Whirlpool you can pop the cover off the ice maker and jump the V to L to bypass the timer.

See if the water fill tube is clogged with an ice plug, mine did that and had to have the water pump replaced. Frigidaire for me.

I did the old hair dryer thaw to it a few times but it would just freeze up again... had to bite the bullet and call out a technician.

Water pump? It is different then. The Whirlpools we have work on water pressure, the valve opens at water flows up to the ice maker. I would have just unplugged it for a day or two to thaw if it was that bad. Your defrost system may not be up to snuff.

some call them water pumps but yes they are indeed a solenoid. Often times the solenoid will stick open just a tiny bit and allow water to drip through the valve, and the tube freezes. Thawing the tube is just a temporary fix. The water valve needs to be replaced when this happens.

That's good to know. What about a new circuit board? Is it worth it to do? They list about half price of the maker from our supplier.
