ice maker/coffee hookup??

I need to run a water line for the new fridge location- I'm in the process ot redoing the kitchen- Right next to the fridge will be a counter (with the coffee maker on it). I thought it be a good idea to possibly run a water to the coffeemaker (vs filling it by hand)... Can I run the water line to the back of the fridge then tap off it and run to the coffeemaker? Anyone else have any thoughts/suggestions?

It's done in a similar fashion at restaurants and quick stores all the time, but their machines are designed for direct connection. Also, you need to consider plumbing code. You are creating a direct connection to potable water with no cross connection control.

what is cross connection and how is it different than an ice maker?
