Ice maker

My ice maker sometimes leaves big clumps of ice. I can clean it out, and it will be okay for a week or two, then it will happen again. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Are the "cubes" stuck together like there is too much water in the tray? Is it the entire tray stuck together, or just part of it? Could be sticky water valve. Could be the refrigerator is not level enough if only the back of the tray gets frozen together.

It's usually just part of it and usually in the back. Only once did it turn into one giant cluster. I'll check it with a level.

Mine does the same thing. As soon as you figure it out...let me know too!!!

Annoying as all get up and you have to take it out and shake it or break them loose.

Check the temperature in the freezer.
It needs to be no higher then 0 deg. F.

Ice makers and frost free freezers are not friendly to each other. Frost free freezers go thru a defrost cycle every so often to keep ice from forming on everything. This warm cycle also melts the ice a little and then allows it to re-freeze.

What is brand and model of your refrigerator? Some have an adjustment for how much water is let into the tray.

Yup, that and making sure it is level is critical. Also check that the water line isn't obstructed with ice or lime build up. If the water sprays out too hard it splashes over board.
