Ice Maker

Tenant moved out and I found bagged ice in the ice maker of Maytag Mzd2752gr. No word about what was happening (or not happening). Lever was up so I dropped it to see if it would make ice. It did not.

Called a repairman who replaced the water valve. Freezer made ice, then continued to fill and flooded the freezer.

Repairman came back and replaced entire ice maker. Same thing happened.

Repairman said he would replace entire ice maker again in case it was defective.

I reminded the repairman that although the ice maker did not make ice, it also did not leak until he replaced the water valve (which was before he replaced the entire ice maker).

He said that "I just do not understand how an ice maker works".

Any insight or advice?

Ice Maker

Sounds suspiciously like a defective water valve.

Ice Maker

If he said that he did not understand how a ice maker works, then you need a new repairman! If he was saying that you did not understand, you still need someone new!

If it keeps filling now and did not before the valve was replaced then it is the valve not the ice maker itself.
