Home on the Range
Hi there folks,
We are thinking of putting in a new range. The old one is electric and abour 11 yrs old. Can anyone tell me if I would like one of the new Hybrid Induction stoves or is gas more economical?
Any reviews on some of the ones you might have installed recently would be more than helpful.
I read a study about whether gas or electric is more efficient, conventional wisdom is that they're about the same and it's a matter of preference, but the study found that gas is more efficient for the stove top while electric is more efficient for the oven. To get the best of both a dual fuel range would work best.
you have to figure out which is more important to you. keeping costs down or features. if cost, you can buy a 30" electric as cheap as $400. if features, dual fuel is great as is the induction if you want to stay electric. with induction though you'll need proper pans. if you do a lot of cooking and have the counter space i'd go duel fuel and buy a separate induction burner[they have single units that sit on counter top].
