GeoSpring user? Looking for your input

I may need to replace my natural gas water heater with an electic due to work I want to do which may need me to remove my chimney which only vents the water heater now.
It seems there are mixed feelings on the quality of the GeoSpring heater.
Mine would be in the basement, I hear that it is said to be noisy when the fans are on high. So I want to know what you all think about its noise.

Also the 10 year warranty only covers parts? Are there any parts that it doesnt cover?

It has to be drained monthly I read by one person. Is this true and if so why? Can the drain be hard piped or is it a garden hose type thread?
Thanks for your input on this subject.
Joel
P.S Is there another type of electic water heater that I should also consider looking at?
