Ge washer motor runs slow

Have GE washer and the motor has started running very slow. It acts like it is not getting enough electricity. It is not the wall outlet because I ran an extention cord to a completly different outlet on a different circuit and it is still the same. When it does this it dims the lights on that circuit in the house. Any suggestions? Thank you

Bad connection upstream of the machine and the dimming lights.
If some lights get brighter it's a bad neutral connection.
Check the voltage at the outlet with the symptom present. Check again with a hair dryer plugged in and running, and then shut off.

Ge washer motor runs slow

So you think it's in the power and not the machine?

With the lights dimming, I doubt it's the machine. Measure voltages and remove doubt.

if it's not getting enough power it'll overheat and shut down. could be just a bad belt. need more info.. need model # to see what iteration of GE washer you have.. makes a difference.
