GE side-by-side making a whining noise

Not sure on the model b/c we just got the house, but I can check at home. It's a side-by-side GE fridge with water and ice dispenser. We've noticed a noise that sounds like my family's St. Bernard whining. Not high pitched at all. It will make the noise for about 10-30 seconds, then stop and start again. Have noticed other times when it's not making any noise at all. We noticed it needed balanced and did that on Sat., but the noise hasn't stopped and it's perfectly level now.

Fridge is only 2 years old...any thoughts?

What area does it sound like it is coming form? Top? Bottom? Freezer? Fresh food compartment? Certain intervals?

sorry, I forgot about this post b/c I figured out the answer! I finally found the instruction manual and read it, since my fridge is a high efficiency one, apparently the noise is common. Great, just great.
