GE Nautilus dishwasher stopped mid-cycle - solution included
So I just put my dishwasher back in the other night after having it out for awhile while tiling the kitchen. I got it back in, loaded it up, and washed some dishes Friday night. Saturday I woke up to find the dishwasher had stopped mid-cycle (right at the start of rinsing) with water standing in the bottom of the tub.
I searched around, found this website with a parts diagram: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/pa...odel_id=209307 and decided to take the door apart. I found that part number 805 and 806 (switch leaf) had broken off from the door face. There was a little plastic "stud" holding a screw which held the switch leaf, and the stud had broken off. The switch leaf presses on 2 button switches when you latch the door, allowing the dishwasher to run.
So instead of buying a new front face for $40+ I decided to just drill a hole and use a screw to hold the switch leaf in place. I used 2 washers, lock washer, and a nut to hold the screw in place, then 2 more nuts, 2 washers, and a lock washer to hold the switch leaf in the right place on the screw.
