my flame sensor reads open when cold. what is sequence op operation.should it start out open then close when flame is detected or is it defective. If flame sensor should be closed can I jump it out for testing or does it open when a flame is detected

ge gas dryer

flame sensor should read open, the ignitor will come on and glow, after a few seconds it gets hot enough to close the contacts on the sensor. Sensor closes, flame comes on. Do not jumper it.

Shouldn't touch the hot surface ignitor. The oils from your hands can damage the ignitor.
