For some reason my front load GE washer is leaking out the front..sometimes a lot, sometimes only a little, it's odd.
I think it's a few years old, as it came with the house we just purchased. My guess after tracing it a bit is possibly the gasket? Since those seem to be common failures, is that the route I should go first, or just get a plumber in to knock it out and fix it?
Yes, replace the gasket. That's assuming that you've inspected the gasket for foreign bodies, nicks & cuts, and for plasticity? Another suspect is the detergent tray dispenser. If you're using powdered detergent, you can get some splashback unless you have the powder insert in the pull out dispenser. Those two issues are easily DIYable. If you can't DIY, the correct tradesman would be an appliance repair person, not a plumber. Avoid A&E Factory Service if you do have to call a repair person.
